Time’s valuable. Your good use of your time is equal to the level of success you enjoy. If you are good at time management, it leaves you with plenty of time for family and friends. Get more done in less time with these simple time management tips and tricks.

Purchase a calendar to organize your tasks. There are those who like to have a calendar in front of them that they can write on. An electronic calendar may better suit you though. Whichever method works best for you, a calendar can help keep your tasks organized and make you more efficient at managing your time.

Start each day by looking over your schedule, filling up any blank areas. You’re more likely to complete your goals if you know what your goals actually are at the beginning of the day. As you look at your schedule, make sure that what you are trying to do is realistic.

Analyze whether you are working too much during the day. If you have trouble focusing and seeing things through to completion, you need to figure out the reason. To effectively manage time, you must figure out what you’re getting from the procedures in your current workflow.

Think about the things that are costing you time. Time is usually of the essence. Only look at emails or text messages at certain times. If you switch over to them every time you get a new one, you will constantly be interrupted from the task you are doing.

Keep your office door closed so others don’t disturb you. Your co-workers and superiors will likely treat an open door as a sign that you’re available to discuss new work or take on new responsibilities. Closing the door gives you privacy. People are aware that you need to find your focus, so you can finish things on time.

Let the phone ring, and don’t answer texts while you’re trying to finish a task. Every time you are interrupted, it gets harder to refocus on the subject at hand. Wait until your task is complete to check your messages.

Examine your schedule. Are any of the activities on there keeping you from completely daily tasks? Can you delegate any tasks to free up more time? Delegation can be a real ally when it comes to managing time. This will allow you to focus on other tasks.

If you need to improve areas of your life, you need to try to always stay on task. Avoid distractions while you’re working on a task. You may find that people try to layer on additional “important” tasks while you still are working on completing the first. Do not let people sway you from your current task. Before you take on anything else, complete your task at hand first.

Get rid of the more difficult tasks first. This makes it possible to do them first and do easier tasks later. In this way, you can move to your less important tasks with a great deal of pressure lifted from your shoulders. If your working day is completed early, you can make sure that your day goes smoothly.

Make a list of all your tasks that must get done. Number them, starting at number “1” with the most important project. As you scratch one thing off your list, start on the next. Bring along your list so you remember it all.

Everyone’s time is valuable. When you prioritize things like work, errands and chores, and handle them efficiently, you will have more time for your personal life. These tips will give you the foundation that you need.
